Winter is Here!!!
The season for long and overnight treks is here. Let’s welcome the season with this magnificent trek from Ratangad to Harishchandragad.
Ratangad, the jewel of western ghats stands tall at about 1300 meters ASL. There are few ruins on the fort apart from entrances and water cisterns. The eye of the needle or Nedhe is one of the top attractions of this fort. There is also a bastion - Chilakhati Buruj on the fort which looks over the valley. During late October Sonaki flowers cover the entire fort, this year (2022) the Karvi had bloomed all over the fort.
Harishchandragad is located in Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra in Malshej ghats and has a powerful history behind. It was built in 6th century by Kalachuri dynasty. It was later controlled by Moghuls. Marathas conquered it in 1747.
The mention of Harishchandragad is found many puranas such as Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana and this makes direct connect to visit such holy place.
This year we intend to complete the range trek connecting these two magnificent forts. Wanna join us?
